Beware of Order Gatherers (OG)

 Floral order gatherers—are virtual businesses that have no intention of filling the order purchased by its customers. What order gatherers essentially do is pretend to be a local Florist, take the customer’s information and payment details and then look for a real local florist to fulfill the order.  Their websites post pictures of expensive floral arrangements (usually the same pictures as Teleflora or FTD) but at a much-reduced rate so you think you are getting a deal.  By the time the OG add their service fees, delivery charges and tax you are essentially paying the same amount if not more than you would have by calling Amelia Florist directly to place the order.  The amount of money sent by the OG to Amelia Florist is only 50% or less of what you as the customer paid for the order in full. For example, if you place an order with an OG for a $75.00 flower arrangement, with a $15.00 delivery fee and another $10 for their “service fees” you are paying them $100 plus tax.  Out of the $100 only $50.00 is being sent to Amelia Florist to complete the order and this includes our delivery fee as well.  We would operate at a loss if we accepted this order, we then must negotiate with the OG for additional funds or outright reject the order. This process delays the expected delivery day and time promised by the OG and at times the OG cannot find a florist who is willing to accept the order, and NO delivery is made for the customer.

Why Are Order Gathers A Problem

An Order Gatherer often provides misleading advertisements or information. They also add extra cost and get a hefty commission on the product a customer buys. This cost mainly comes from the time and “effort” that they spend on collecting orders. On the other hand, the Florist who fills the order won’t receive the payment for that order until after a month or more (after the wire service that they use reconciles their statement). 
If you have any problems with your order, such as not getting what you ordered or receiving it too late, all the blame typically falls on Amelia Florist, not on the OG’s misleading you. 
The Order Gatherers will attract you by appearing on the first page when searching for Florists online and their well-maintained website. They spend tons in marketing dollars to show up first on the internet in cities all across the world. They can be so sneaky you will think you are talking with a local Florist.    Your search query on google will take you to THEIR website even though you think you are being directed to us, Amelia Florist. Remember, they are making A LOT of money by ripping you off as explained above.
